Time Flies: Reflecting on 4 Weeks of the Semester

ree

It's hard to believe that we're already in week 4 of the semester – time has been flying by, and I've been thoroughly enjoying every moment of it. Let me take you through a quick recap of my experiences so far.

Civil Procedure Challenges

One of the surprises of this semester has been how challenging Civil Procedure has proven to be. While I expected it to be demanding, it has surpassed my expectations. The intricacies of the legal process are fascinating, albeit complex. I've been working diligently to grasp the nuances of this subject.

Criminal Procedure: A Favorite

On the flip side, Criminal Procedure has emerged as my favorite class. The way it delves into the legal aspects of criminal cases has truly captivated my interest. Learning about the rights of individuals within the criminal justice system has been both enlightening and enjoyable.

Putting Theory into Practice

Putting my knowledge to practical use has been incredibly rewarding. In my Advocacy class, I recently wrote my first Motion in Limine, applying the concepts I've learned. It's amazing how theory transforms into practice, and it's made me even more enthusiastic about pursuing a career in law.

Internship at Halmon Law

My internship with Halmon Law has been an enriching experience. I'm currently working on a multi-issue memo that focuses on a §1983 civil rights claim for excessive force under the 4th and 14th Amendments. This ties directly into what I'm learning in Criminal Procedure, making the work all the more interesting and relevant.

Club Activities: Phi Alpha Delta

Outside of classes and internships, I've also been actively involved in student organizations. Phi Alpha Delta recently held its first general body meeting, where we welcomed a wave of new members. I'm excited about the opportunities to plan initiation for this semester and pair big-little mentorships with existing members.

Club Activities: Student Bar Association's Barrister's Ball

The Student Bar Association has been working diligently on this year's Barrister's Ball, set to be held at ZooTampa in Lowry Park on November 10th from 6-10 p.m. If you or someone you know is interested in attending or sponsoring this fantastic event, please reach out – we'd love your support! Club Activities: Phi Delta Phi

My involvement in Phi Delta Phi has been deeply rewarding. We've been brainstorming ideas for this term's events, and it's been a pleasure working with Kyndal Midkiff, our new president. One of the core values of Phi Delta Phi is promoting community organizing, and this semester, we're working on getting a student food pantry approved on campus. It's an initiative that aligns perfectly with my passion for giving back and volunteering for causes I deeply care about.

As the semester continues, I look forward to staying engaged and making the most of every opportunity that comes my way. Let's keep in touch and make this semester one to remember!

"In the journey of education and pursuing your passions, it's okay if it gets tough – that's where growth happens. Keep going, keep learning, and you'll emerge stronger than ever." -Unknown
